Rather, I’m Bach.
The Island, at least the portions we visited, was a blast. I’ll have a full update regarding the (mis)adventures of Amy and I once I procure the travelogue that I infrequently kept on the road because it is, as far as I can recall, sitting on m’love’s desk at this moment.
That said, my cat (currently whacking a bottle cap all over the room) has been all over me since my return. He won’t let me out of his sight, follows me from room to room to room, and jumps into my lap, bed, arms or at my legs at every available opportunity. It’s endearing, in a frightening “my cat is a stalker” kind of way. I missed him, too.
Anyways, further updates shall follow this one in time, though I can’t say exactly when. Given that This entry was posted on Tuesday, August 3rd, 2004 at 2:55 pm and is filed under General. howdy matt, jon here.
i understand totally about the cat stalking thing. cedar, the cat i got from the humane society a few months ago, always acts like i’ve been at sea for a year or something when i get home. it’s nice, though she can be a little over-enthusiastic at times (and she needs her claws clipped, yikes). so now there’s zar’s cat tober, cedar, and our new chihuaha puppy, prof. toggle (a handful, literally). i’ve had to start taking prescription allergy meds again to cope with having so many mammals around, but it’s worth the trouble. insects and reptiles just don’t give back as much love.
i am a little jealous of your doom3 experience as none of the computers in this house can even run the demo. will enjoy vicariously. wish i was doing sound for games instead of being a box jockey. perhaps someday.
wrote phil to ask if antibody is still even on his mind. silence in response. seems i am an orphan again. probably was for years. need to get new material together and find a new nest.
anyway, got your package. took a while to get started on reading Watchmen but quickly fell into it. very pleasantly surprised by the source of my divorced text assignment. scanning internet for bird of prey sounds as i write this. rorshach influence becoming obvious in my journal postings, yes?
take care. life is a mess presently but i hope to use it to advantage and have material for you soon.
i just wrote you a long comment, but it was apparently lost to the aethers. trying to remember and summarize here:
- understand totally about needy cat. cedar, mine from the humane society, acts like i’ve been lost at sea every time i come home, which i am grateful for. zar’s older cat tolerates me but cedar loves me, nice change of pace. got zar the chihuahua she’s wanted since day one, and that’s been a handful (literally) but prof. toggle has the makings of a loving dog. had to start taking allegra-d to live with mammals, but worth it. arthropods and lizards never gave me anything back the way mammals do. if only humans were as easy as cats.
- living vicariously through your doom3 experience as my computer can’t even play the demo video. wish i was doing sound for video games instead of moving boxes around. any idea how to get in? no idea of state of industry.
- speaking of sound, haven’t had any time to do skincage lately. finally wrote phil to see if antibody’s even alive. silence speaks volumes, as usual. guess i’m an orphan. need a new nest, but need new material first. need time, anove all. probably apace, too. hoping to soon find a way to turn daily frustrations of life into music, the way i used to before i “grew up.”
- got watchmen, enjoyed thoroughly after remembering how to read comic books. pleasantly surprised by the context of my divorced text assignment. hunting for bird of prey sounds as i type. need to listen to propergol again now that i understand the context of theirs.
- hope you are well. sending someone your way who is interested in the watchmen project. not sure if there are openings but he’s from a field-recording e-list and seems like an interesting fellow. answered my request for bird-call sources and was excited by the concept when i told him why i need them so this felt natural. hope i’m not imposing.
Hi, Jon!
Not too sure why that first comment of yours was lost — it actually only required my moderation and, unfortunately, I rarely remember to check my @gmail.com account to which moderation requests are sent — but, check it out, it’s up now. Still, comparing your first post to the second, you pretty much covered all of the bases; looks good!
I’m hoping to be posting my complete thoughts on DOOM3 in the next few days. Since finishing it several days ago, I’ve been replaying each level (individually and in a random order) and formulating my thoughts. I’ve beside me a page of scribbled notes and four-hundred words worth of text proper saved away in a Word document. For a solid review written by someone I trust in all things DOOM, I suggest the following link.
Regarding Antibody and Phil, he may not have replied because I know he’s going through some troubling familial crises. However, should Antibody be no more, I’m alternately devastated and thrilled to hear this. Devastated in that the releases that were planned (r|a|a|n 2CDEP, 15 Degrees Below Zero) are now likely homeless and may not ever see the light of day, but thrilled for you in terms of the potential benefits you can reap. Remember what we talked about via e-mail and the labels I suggested as possible homes? I was sincere in recommending all of them, and feel that, with a copy of “Axon” as proof of your talent, you’ll find yourself signed shortly. Right now, you’ve limitless options to pursue; carpe diem!
Love the fact that you’re loving Watchmen, and am pleased that it has proved inspirational. Not much else to say on that front. Hrrm. Glad your sent Brian my way, too; hope he wasn’t put off by my delayed reply, as Amy and I were out of town when he first tried contacting me. Hell, I just hope my reply to him was coherent; I was hyped up on painkillers at the time. Since e-mailing him back, I’ve heard not a thing.
