Recently returned from my journey for coffee (not a cappuccino as intended; the white mocha was too tempting to resist), I must say, I wish I hadn’t spent all afternoon locked in front of the computer, burning CD-Rs. Not only did I miss out on the opportunity to have an extended conversation via email with my girlfriend, I also missed out on the bulk of a balmy and beautiful spring day. It’s gorgeous outside!

While tangentially talking email, any idea why people (myself included) are so bloody slow at replying to it? I, like so many others, thrill at receiving messages but am rarely warm to replying… and I hate it when people are slow in replying to me.

I know I’m not alone in this. I’m sure you can all think of instances when you’ve launched off a volley of messages to scores of people and waited days, if not weeks, for anything resembling a coherent response.

Ah, well. With my intent to never have children, I can say with smug satisfaction that whatever genetic deficieny I’m afflicted with that retards my ability to promptly reply to electronic communiqués will not be passed on to subsequent generations.

Spent the entirety of the afternoon burning compact discs and, while doing so, reading. The last hour or so of the procedure was spent being frustrated at my burner which suddenly decided that, after generating one hundred-plus discs successfully, it didn’t want to work any more and started choking on whatever I fed it.

Fun, fun, fun.

Several corrupt CD-Rs and a headache later, I finished, did some research on the net, and am still frustrated and absolutely clueless as to what caused the problem. Here’s hoping this doesn’t become a recurring difficulty, as I have need to burn large quantities of discs on a semi-regular basis.

I’m off to do something relaxing, now. Enslavement, er, liberation, a cappuccino and some music will do.
