Just finished excreting the thing closest to poetry that I’ve done in several long weeks, months…a while. It was a fun little diversion, procrastinating, an exercise in stream of consciousness. My thoughts were a bit muddy in places whilst writing, giving me pause, but the piece was ultimately hammered out and completed in under half an hour.

Celebrating with some Nick Cave and tea, though it would be cooler if I were celebrating with Nick Cave. Ah, well. Perhaps next time. For now I shall have to avail myself with “Murder Ballads” and Earl Grey.

Argh.

Past two weeks, I’ve accumulated a small army of papers to mark. Funny thing is, even in the face of being overwhelmed, I can’t bring myself to care enough to start grading. I am totally exhausted and apathy has claimed me for her own.

“Return of the King” was neat, though I had to keep reminding myself that “the movies aren’t the books; the movies are adaptations of the books.” A very satisfying conclusion to an epic set of movies, though I’m dying to see the extended version. The inner fanboy, the Tolkien die-hard, knows full well what some of the cut scenes are and, frankly, I can’t wait.

Need tea. Coffee. Something to drink. Good thing the kettle’s boiling.
