I direct everyone with even a passing interest in comic books to this review. Written by an individual who has little to no experience in the realm of the ‘funny book’, from the outside looking in, the article critiques much that is wrong with the comic industry today, using Outsiders #1 as a punching bag. A much needed breath of fresh air, and sadly, another bell toll pointing towards the forthcoming doom of an aging industry.
Here’s hoping publishers wake the hell up and start listening. They profess that they need young blood to survive, a new generation of readers, and yet they continue to release ‘new’ books mired in the broken continuity of twenty years of stories. That is not the way to attract new readers, and the reviewer of the linked article nails that point home quite clearly.
