You’re a threat, too.
by Chris on Oct.31, 2007, under General Thoughts
If you’ve done nothing wrong, you’ve got nothing to fear
If you’ve something to hide, you shouldn’t even be here
You’ve had your chance, now we’ve got the mandate
If you’ve changed your mind, I’m afraid it’s too lateWe’re concerned
You’re a threat
You’re not integral to the project
Update
Interestingly, today Bruce Schneier wrote an article about culture’s war on the unexpected that fits really nicely with this. It illustrates the flat-out falsehood of the statement “If you’ve done nothing wrong, you’ve got nothing to fear.”
I have a hard time reading this; I realize that it’s unlikely that any of this will happen to me, but that’s not because it can’t, it’s because on some level I’m already suppressed in that way. This stuff makes me sick inside.
Grr(umble)…

Which is the sound my currently-tortured stomach is making. I feel like utter ass today, which means no skydiving for me, unless I feel notably better by noon or two or so.
Bah.
Tomorrow is another day, though, one in which I hope to get my jumps started.
Conned Out
by Chris on Mar.23, 2006, under General Thoughts
Wow. I’d never have believed it, given the fairly-sedentary nature of a software Con, but this is bloody tiring.
I’m bone-tired, mentally-exhausted, and nicely sated with knowledge and networking. It’s been a great time. The wind-down, today, results in a shorter day (ends at 5 PM, instead of at 10:00) although that just means that I’m likely to end up dodging out to dinner with some of the people from the Foundation and from IBM that I’ve met.
Anyway, it’s been worth it. Now, of course, when I get home I have a metric ton of catching up to do. School, work, bugs, issues, a sick girlfriend, an irritating cat…
I miss it
