Lasers!
by Chris on May.09, 2008, under General Thoughts
Had a great time with Eric and company at his bachelor party last night. This one won’t win any awards for hardcore crazy times, but that’s more my speed anyway. The entertainments included political snarkery, literary pretensions, laser tag, and Dragonball on the Wii. All of these things are good fun, and really, what would life be like without them?
I did, however, oversleep a bit this morning. I blame the fact that I’ve not topped 6 hours of sleep in any night for around a month, which is probably not doing my body any good whatsoever.
In other news, Mother’s day is coming, and I’m pretty stoked: I remembered!
Plotted out

I think the conspiracy yesterday was to make me actually feel old, by working me over body and mind, so that today I wake up tired, with a sore back and stiff limbs.
I love you all
Squash is responsible for a sore forearm and back, biking for sore legs, and disc golf for a sore shoulder. My mind is awash with details I never knew about good friends and family, which is great — I’m going to get Char to forward me the emails that she assembled into the fantastic party game that we played, and I intend to read over them all.
Thank you all so very much, those of you who were able to come out last night. I had a great time, and it was arguably the best birthday e-var!1!!bang

Hey, all you craaaazy…
Okay, that is definitely not my tone, there.
Seriously, though, what are all of you up to? I know Matt is done for the summer, but of course is swamped with lesson planning for the heavy workload of next year. Another sometime reader has just gotten engaged, which is cool news, and Mom is settling in at home. The usual suspects, etc…
But (what with moving) the only one of you I’ve really seen a lot of this summer is Simon, who — while cool, and all — is only a small part of my circle of valued friends.
We’re almost set here to host some sort of get-together, and I intend to invite everyone that reads this (and a few that don’t, those technologically-backward people who for some reason think I’m a decent sort). Dates will be forthcoming. Apparently Char is drooling over the idea of hosting a cocktail party

Hard drive and hard drinking
by Chris on Aug.25, 2004, under General Thoughts
Woke up this morning having recovered nearly 100% from the partying last night. Sure, it was out of character for me, but every once in a while it pays to be a bit less moderate. Missed some people that should have been there, but all told a good time was had.
The time was not so good this morning, however. I woke up to a clicking noise coming from my new hard drive (the one that Char bought me for my music) and essentially a dead drive with little to no hope of recovery.
Except…
I take the damnable piece of cack back to BCom and they check it out and it works fine there. So I bring it home, and lo and behold, it works like a damned charm!
I’m not too trusting of it at this point, though, which tells me that maybe — dud or no — I need to investigate a newer drive. I’m starting to think that it’s gonna end up being a problem elsewhere in the PC — it’s plausible that the hard drive controller itself is b0rked. Not a happy thought, that.
