Odds are, Beau should not be allowed to see this link: We Are Your Friends
It’s video, so don’t bother, on a slow connection.
Update:
The file at the original location was moved, so this Youtube link has it. If I find the better version again, I’ll upload it and host it here.
Justice vs. Simian: We Are Your Friends
Update again
The link is fixed, it’s a local file now. Will work ‘til doomsday.

As the strains of John Williams’ score waft from the speakers, and the 1977 edition of the opening text scrolls by…
This is a bit like coming home after a long voyage, or finding a friend long thought lost.
I’m an emotional geek, I know.

Getting the last few courses out of the way is, strangely, shaping up to be somewhat unsatisfying. I can’t seem to shake the desire to phone in the last year of my education, skipping the hard parts and concentrating on just getting the official documentation of my education.
This isn’t, obviously, a constructive sentiment.
Still, it’s nice to be in the visible homestretch. I have eight months of part time coming up, four months of the real world in the summer again, and then one last, lazy semester to nail down the last of my requirements, and then, in January 2008, at the age of 30, I’ll get to graduate.
2008.
Damn me.

Simon and Char are roaming the world, and they (like M&M before them) are posting on Morruz.

A: Looking forward to a good game of hockey tonight, good hamburgers, and good company.
W: Found a nifty site called Luxist that blogs the things of the rich and famous. I smack my lips in consumerist glee at some of them, and shake my head in vague discomfort at others.
S: Against all odds, my iPod works again!
If you could see me, I couldn’t claim to be dancing a merry jig. Since you can’t, I am.

Wow. As Simon gets into climbing, it reminds me that I’m supposed to go out with a co-worker and try it out. My god.
I hurt in ways I didn’t know were possible. It’s better today, but yesterday evening I could barely hold the shopping basket. That being said, it was fun, and I think I’ll do it again.
In (m)other news, it’s Mothers’ day. Which means I’m feeding her, not the other way around. I’m making a dinner as I write this, which is… weird. I’m still not a cook, even at the most desperate of times. I hope this works out.

Ye heavenly hosts, I am undermotivated today.
According to my spell checker, “undermotivated” is not a word.
I really should be working on homework, doing laundry, or maybe even just calling a friend and having lunch. Why I’m not doing this is a bit of a mystery. I shouldn’t lack energy, but I sure do.
Maybe I’ll read some more. I finally picked up The Da Vinci Code, since Char bought herself a copy of the paperback a week ago, and just finished it.
See? This is the kind of thing of which blogging nightmares are made.
I could follow Simon’s advice, but I suspect that if I started talking about how frustrating it was trying to implement a custom SAML assertion verification using open-source solutions in a WebSphere app serving environment, and how I find myself staring at code samples until my eyes feel like they’re going to start bleeding, while the deadlines that we have for delivering this solution creep up on us quickly…
Runon sentences cannot do it justice.

Yeah, or something like that, anyway.
It’s increasingly obvious to me that I need to find something that I’m passionate about to write about. The “Here’s what’s new in my life” format has its place, and will never truly leave these pages, but I don’t know that it has the mileage to make it.
At any rate, this is more of a “ping” to let you all know I’m not dead, I haven’t forgotten the blog, and I plan to write more, soon.
Oh…
And Apple just released a mechanism whereby my MacBook will be able to run Windows. Games, games, games!
Heh. That one was for Char.

This is the first day with my new toy, and I think I’m going to like it. It’s different, for sure, but mostly in minor, key layout, ways. It’s just stupidly fast, that’s for sure.
And it’s so, SO pretty.
