28044 pence, none the wiser

Well, as of this morning I’m short two teeth. Much to my surprise, the dentist — after examining my wisdom tooth — said to me, “Do you want me to just take those out now?” to which I replied, “No time like the present,” and… there we are!
Numb now, but I expect that’ll pass

When I had mine out it was OK until the shots wore off then wham, it felt like a mule had kicked me. The only time I took a prescribed pain killer.

That’s not too encouraging, you know…

I have perscription pain killers here if you want them. They were for my leg after I got the pin taken out, so I imagine they would work on your teeth. Seriously. Let me know.

When I had my wisdom teeth taken out my face bruised so badly, I was in pain for like a week.

I seem to be fortunate in that I won’t be getting the massive pain, swelling, and bruising that some do.
I suspect it has to do with three of the teeth already being in, and the fourth being a minor thing overall. I guess I’m just less evolved

Was your grandfather a monkey?!
Seriously, when the teeth have already erupted, it’s a far, far simpler procedure. Usually just slice and pull. It’s when the dentist actually has to open up the gums and dig around for the tooth that it’s usually a lot more painful with more swelling and whatnot. Also, it makes a difference how many teeth get pulled.
Glad you’re feeling ok.

Interestingly enough, there weren’t even cuts—it was just a “latch on, pull” operation.
I didn’t even know he was pulling the top one until he said “Got it!” I thought he was just getting a handle on the location, etc…
What’s more, no pain. There was a little bit of soreness for a couple of days, and now nothing. Still holes, but…
I should get the other two done, too!
